Shlok Mukherjee of West Bengal won the Doodle for Google contest 2022 by visualising India’s amazing contribution to the realm of science. Shlok Mukherjee from Kolkata has won the Doodle for Google 2022 competition.

Throughout the day, Shlok Mukherjee’s doodle based on the contest topic – “In the next 25 years, my India will…” – will be displayed on the search engine.

Google kicked off ‘Children’s Day’ celebrations in India by announcing the winners of the Doodle for Google competition. Shlok Mukherjee of West Bengal won the competition, which had over 115,000 entries from over 100 Indian towns for students in grades 1-10.

Shlok’s doodle, titled ‘India on the Center Stage,’ reflects his hope that India’s scientific accomplishments will gather speed in the future years. “We were especially encouraged that technological innovation and sustainability emerged as common themes across many of the Doodles,” Google said in a news release.

Shlok’s doodle, “In the next 25 years, my India will…”, will be displayed on the search engine throughout the day. He is a student at Delhi Public School in Newtown, Kolkata, and describes his doodle as follows: “In the next 25 years, my India will have scientists construct their own eco-friendly robot for the betterment of humanity.” India will be able to go from Earth to space on a regular basis. India will grow stronger in the field of Yoga and Ayurveda in the next years.”

Google stated that 20 doodles were chosen by a panel of judges that included renowned figures such as Kuriakose Vaisian, Editor-in-Chief of Tinkle Comics, and posted online for public voting. Google’s final selection criteria for hundreds of entries were “artistic excellence, ingenuity, fit with the contest topic, and distinctiveness and novelty of the approach.”

Over 5 lakh public votes were cast, and the results included four group winners as well as a national champion.

The judging panel that chose Shlok Mukherjee’s doodle from over 115,000 entries included actor Neena Gupta, Tinkle Comics Editor-in-Chief Kuriakose Vaisian, YouTube Creators Slayypoint, and artist Alika Bhat, as well as the Google Doodle team.

Children from grades 1 to 10 from around India submitted their artworks, and four group winners were also announced. According to a Google India press release, the panel judged entries based on creative merit, approach, and relevance to the theme.

The tech giant assembled a panel of judges for the 2022 Doodle for Google, which included Bollywood actress Neena Gupta, comic book editor and stand-up comic Kuriakose Vaisian, social influencers and founders of Slayypoint, Abhyudaya Mohan and Gautami Kawale; and Alika Bhatt, artist, teacher, YouTuber, Tedx speaker, and entrepreneur.
