The UN also stated that while it took 12 years for the global population to increase from 7 billion to 8 billion, it will take around 15 years till 2037 to reach 9 billion.

According to the United Nations, the world’s population will surpass 8 billion on November 15. The growth in population was attributed by the international organisation to a progressive increase in human lifetime due to advancements in public health, diet, personal cleanliness, and medicine. The UN also stated that population growth is being driven by higher fertility rates in some nations.

The UN also stated that while it took 12 years for the global population to increase from 7 billion to 8 billion, it will take around 15 years till 2037 to reach 9 billion.

According to its most recent forecasts, the world population might reach almost 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050, and 10.4 billion in 2100.

Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Tanzania will account for more than half of the predicted rise in global population through 2050.

According to these projections, India will surpass China as the world’s most populated country in 2023.

Eastern and South-Eastern Asia have the most inhabitants (2.3 billion), followed by Central and Southern Asia (2.1 billion). These regions are followed by China and India, both of which have populations of more than 1.4 billion people.
