Lionsgate has released an action-packed trailer for Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4, providing fans a peek of where the franchise is headed. John Wick (Keanu) discovers a way to destroy The High Table in Chapter 4. However, before he can earn his release, Wick must battle a new foe with global ties and forces that turn familiar friends into enemies. John Wick: Chapter 4 will feature new faces and tremendous action sequences, as well as the largest showdown Wick has ever faced.

The trailer depicts John and Donnie Yen’s character chit-chatting in a church before Donnie tells the seemingly invincible hitman, “You’re going to die.” But John is up for the task. Then we meet ‘new management’ in John’s criminal underworld, commanded by a sinister-looking Bill Skarsgard, who looks very menacing even without clown makeup. Winston, played by Ian McShane, informs John that he can win his release from this hellhole if he defeats Bill in single combat.

Unfortunately for everyone’s favourite assassin, the path to confronting this new kingpin isn’t easy, as it includes killing a slew of vicious hitmen while avoiding being killed. Of course, the most deadly foe is Donnie Yens’ new menace, who appears to be a perfect match for John. Is John biting off more than he can chew? Fans are understandably concerned. “It appears John has found someone who can beat him,” one person wrote.

The film also stars Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburne, Bill Skarsgard, and Ian McShane in addition to Keanu Reeves. Chad Stahelski, who directed the first three films, will again direct the sequel.

While Halle Berry and her dogs won’t be back for more, the teaser promises plenty of familiar faces, including Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, and Lance Reddick. Bill Skarsgard and Scott Adkins are also on board, which should please action fans of all stripes.

Despite the newcomers, Reeves remains the star of the show as our stoic, elegant, gun-toting murdering machine. And, boy, is he shooting a lot of nasty men around here. The only question is whether he will ever be able to go back to enjoying his life after killing the right guy at the right moment. Most likely not. John Wick will be a big book, with four chapters that last roughly two hours each.

The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Stahelski, with Reeves and Louise Rosner serving as executive producers. Lionsgate distributes the film, which was co-produced by Thunder Road Pictures and 87North Productions.

JOHN WICK’S PERSONALITY

The neo-noir action series began with 2014’s John Wick, which starred Reeves as the titular retired assassin on the hunt for the criminals who came into his home, stole his vintage car, and killed his puppy, which was his recently deceased wife’s last gift to him. The film, directed by Chad Stahelski, was a tremendous blockbuster for the studio, grossing USD 86 million against a budget of USD 20 million. The film’s action sequences, plot, and acting by Keanu Reeves were generally praised by critics.

John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum were the two sequels. Both were huge successes that earned rave reviews from critics. The fourth instalment was originally slated to be released on May 21, 2021, but was pushed back to May 27, 2022 owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

The fourth instalment, which will be released in theatres on March 24, 2023, is a direct sequel to the 2019 film John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and will be the longest film in the franchise. Keanu is also in negotiations to return to the Ballerina spinoff, which stars Ana de Armas.
